Lost Comments - Ya, Yeah, Yea

I know when I have comments because I get an email telling me so. After changing over my blog I apparently messed up that setting. I just discovered I had comments tonight. What a glorious feeling to go from wondering, "where is everyone?" to realizing they were all there the whole time. Ya friends.

Ok, so does anyone know the proper use of Ya, yay, yeah and yea? I just throw them out at random. It's one of the big grammatical hurdles I've never mastered.

And if you're wondering how to switch over your blog (Rachel), just go to Settings -> Publishing. Then change the address to something like "portalj1". Then immediately create a brand new blog with the old address "portalj". Make the old one private and start publishing on the new one. Voila!

yeah, is more of a word of affermation, like, yeah, we're coming to the party. Yea, and yay, are more exclamations, like, Yea! We are going trick or treating tonight! Ya is a term in a movie title- the Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. (I don't really know about that one.)

I don't have anything to back this up, but according to the system in my head, "Yay" is what you say when your football team wins, "Yeah" is what you say when you're too lazy to say "yes", and "Yea" is what you say when you're voting ("yea or nay?") or when you're trying to sound like the Book of Mormon. I'm pretty sure only Scandinavian people say "ya" (rhymes with "raw").

Are any of those grammatically correct? =)

That's funny about the comments. I would have felt the same way too wondering why nobody loved me anymore. :) So I have always wondered that very same question...yeah, yay, etc. Because I'm inconsistent. I write "yeah" for both yay (rhymes with "say") and ya (rhymes with "waaa"??? like crying). Hmmm...I'll be curious to see what others say.

Ok, I think I actually get it. I need to use Yay more often, Yea less often and Ya when I'm old or in Europe. Let's see if I can remember!

I just think of scriptures when I try to remember which one to use. In the scriptures, they say "Yea, behold, blah, blah, blah". So YEA is for yippee and yeah is for saying "Yeah, I agree". I don't know what ya is though except maybe "See ya later". I hope that helps.

I love that you give the instructions in like 1 sentence because I have friends ask me all the time and it takes me 3 paragraphs.

Ask me what time it is and I'll tell ya how the clock works.
